Stafford resident Jayshaun Cooper is being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail after allegedly terrorizing a woman he met two weeks ago, though he seemingly saw no issue with his actions.

Shortly before 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, deputies from the Stafford County Sheriff's Office were called to the England Run North Apartment complex to investigate a reported disturbance involving Cooper and his new paramour, who he reportedly just met.

According to investigators, the 24-year-old Cooper met the woman two weeks ago, and during that time he held her against her will, made threats against her, and on Tuesday morning, assaulted her.

Cooper was captured at the apartment complex, where the woman currently lives. However, he denied any wrongdoing, and told deputies that "everything is good," though the investigation proved otherwise.

Witnesses in the area who reported the domestic disturbance were able to confirm the victim's statements about Cooper, who was arrested when in fact, it turned out that everything was not, in fact, good.

Cooper was charged with assault and battery, as well as abduction by force.

He is being held at the jail without bond. No information about his initial court appearance was released by the police.

"For those in an abusive situation, there is always help available," officials advised. "The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office has resources to help victims through difficult times like these. For those in a domestic situation, the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office partners with Empowerhouse who can provide assistance as well."
